60 years of marriage celebrated by Lanett City Council

LAFAYETTE — Two couples who have been married for 60 years were each celebrated with proclamations by the Lanett City Council at their meeting on Monday, July 6. Council Member for District 3 Brad Lynn read a proclamation celebrating the first couple.
"Whereas Gerald and Dot Brumbeloe's love story began in 1962 when they met at Lanett Nazareth Church," he said. "They were married on May 28, 1966, and have shared 60 wonderful years together. In addition to their careers, Gerald and Dot faithfully served their community as clerks for local elections for several years. And whereas the couple have always lived in Lanett where they raised their two sons, Stan and Steven, and were blessed with two grandsons. Mrs. Brumbeloe said it has been a good marriage reflecting a lifetime of love, faith and dedication to one another."
Following that proclamation, Council Member for District 4 Charles Bagley read a proclamation for the Crowders.
"Whereas David and Judy Crowder met at Red's Skating Rink in May of 1965," he said. "They were married at Dunson Baptist Church in Lagrange on June 4, 1966. They have had 60 years of wonderful friendship and marriage. And whereas the newly married couple first moved to Huguley, later moving to Lanett where they have resided since. They have two sons, Paul and Mark, and four wonderful grandchildren."

• Resolution 06-26-05 refueler lease agreement with Perry Brothers was approved.
• Resolution 06-26-06 aviation fuel agreement with Perry Brothers was approved.
• There were first readings for multiple ordinances that included amendments to water/sewage tap fees, gas tap and inspection fees, connection fees and service charges.
• There were motions approved for resolutions confirming the report of cost on nuisance abatement for Oliveira, Bruce Jr. c/o Thomas, Darden c/o Wells, Davis and Finley c/o Patrick.
