Bulldogs junior high football opens strong with victory

LAFAYETTE — The Eastside John P. Powell Magnet School football team battled Central Coosa County High School’s junior high squad on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Bulldog Stadium and came away with a 24-12 victory.

The game opened with both teams trading scores, as the first quarter ended in a 6-6 tie. 

The Bulldogs found their rhythm in the second quarter, adding another touchdown to take a 12-6 lead into halftime.

John P. Powell continued building momentum after the break and extended its advantage to 18-6 at the end of the third quarter. 

The Bulldogs then finished strong in the fourth quarter, adding another touchdown while keeping Central Coosa from mounting a comeback.

John P. Powell played Lanett Junior High School on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Bulldog Stadium. That result was not available by Tuesday’s press deadline.
