CA holds banquet to honor girls' athletics wins

LAFAYETTE — Chambers Academy recently hosted a banquet to recognize their female athletes. This year, this girls’ athletics program saw elite eight appearances in volleyball and basketball, a third place finish in the state tournament for varsity softball, a JV softball state championship, a semi-finalist appearance at the National High School Cheerleading Championships, and the Leadership Award at UDA dance camp. This marked a banner year for girls’ sports at CA. Along with the team accomplishments, outstanding individuals were recognized at the banquet. 

Those receiving Dance Team Awards were Autumn Blackall, Captain Award; Ansley Reaves and Izzy Smith, Co-Captain Award; Marlie Harrelson and Abby Tenpenny, Performance Award; Kayla Whorton, Most Confident; Addison Tenpenny and Madison Davis , Personality Award, Keila Marroquin, Leadership Award; and Karoline Pitchford, Manager of the Year.

Winners of JV Cheer Awards were Jersy Richardson, Best Jumps; Skylar Andrews, Best Flyer; Blakely Allen, Captain Award; Emmalee Jackson; Best Base, Captain Award, and Best All-Around; and Macie Harrelson, Most School Spirit.

Varsity Cheer Awards went to Halle Hurst, Six-Year Veteran Award; Kayla Howard, Team Player Award and Six-Year Veteran Award; Cate Allen, Most School Spirit; Ansley Carter, Best Base; Talley Carter, Best Jumps and Six-Year Veteran Award; MeLeah Tigner, Best Backspot and Six-Year Veteran Award; Alyssa Reaves, Best All-Around; and Anna Kate Jackson, Best Flyer and Coach’s Award. 

Those receiving honors for JV Volleyball were Kennedy Perry, Spirit Award; Abigail Downey, Pancake Award; Tenley Benefield, Rebel Tough Award; Hayden Smith, Most Improved, and Payton Earl, Most Valuable Player. 

Varsity Volleyball Awards went to Keila Marroquin, Spirit Award; Sydney Carter, Pancake Award; Kayla Howard, Rebel Tough Award; Cate Allen, Most Improved; and Halle Hurst and Talley Carter, Most Valuable Players. 

Those being recognized for their performance in Varsity Basketball were Madison Stanford, Captain Award; MeLeah Tigner, Captain Award; Autumn Blackall, Captain Award; Anna Kate Jackson, Most Improved; Abby Tenpenny, Coach’s Award; Madison Stanford, Offensive MVP and Trenise Tigner, Defensive MVP.

Varsity softball awards went to Madison Davis, Captain Award; Allie Paschal, Offensive MVP; Tenley Benefield, Defensive MVP and Payton Earl, Most Valuable Player.
