Rebel Baseball
After a tough 4-14 loss to Abbeville to start the week, Chambers bounced back in the weekend tournament picking up a 4-3 win over Southern Academy. Strong defensive play kept the game scoreless through the first two innings. Drew Sheppard started the third off with a double, and Tripp O’Donnell and Colton Fuller both advanced the runners to put Chambers up 2-0. Sam Smith singled in the fourth, and the Rebels added two more runs. Southern took advantage of some Rebel errors in the bottom of the sixth to add three runs, but Chambers was able to outlast the Cougars. Colton Fuller got the win on the mound.
Three runs in the bottom of the third is all the Rebels put on the board in their matchup with South Choctaw, but those runs were enough as they held their opponents to get the 3-2 win. Sam Smith took the mound first and allowed no hits while striking out three.
The Rebels came up short in the last game of the tournament, falling 4-5. Eli Whorton tripled in the game, and Sam Smith doubled. Chambers improves to 3-2 on the season.
