Chambers County Commission recognizes retiree

CHAMBERS COUNTY — At the June 8 Chambers County Commission Meeting, a retiree was recognized, and the commission approved regular business.
Sheriff Jeff Nelson recognized Captain Jeff Hinkle for his service to the county and presented him with an Auburn eagle plaque.
“This is an award that we are presenting to Capt. Jeff Hinkle, in grateful recognition of your dedication and honorable service to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of our community from Jan. 5, 1998, until May 31, 2026,” he said. “So, Jeff, this is just a little token of our appreciation for everything that you have done for the Sheriff's Department, for the county and for the citizens.”
Chambers County Commissioner for District 4 Sam Bradford read a proclamation for Men’s Health Week for June 15 to 21.
“Whereas Men's Health Month is part of an ongoing international effort to educate men, boys and their families by the importance of preventive health screening, early detection and health lifestyles, and whereas nationwide men have a life expectancy that is approximately six years shorter than that of women and experience high rates of chronic disease, including diabetes, obesity, cancer, heart disease and premature mortality,” he said.

• The commission voted to approve the minutes and warrants payable for May 18.
• The commission voted to approve the agenda as presented.
• The commission voted to reappoint Chief Deputy Mike Parrish to the 911 EMA Board for a four-year term, expiring June 2030, and waive the second reading of said reappointment.
• The commission voted to appoint Kathy Hornsby as the county-wide director for Chambers County.
• The commission voted to approve the EMA Director and Homeland Security Point of Contact Appointment.
• The commission approved the purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD 4WD Crew Cab Chassis of AL State Bid MA240000004918 from MeSweeny Auto Group Clanton LLC.
• The commission approved the purchase of a service body for the 2026 3500HD Chassis of AL State Bid MC 250000005128 from Mission Vehicles LLC.
• The commission voted to approve the subdivision of property for Timber Ridge Subdivision, “division of Lot 3 Allen Acres Two.”
• The commission approved the subdivision of property for the “division of 13.72 Acres on Lantuck Road.”
The next regularly scheduled Commission Meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 22.
