Chambers County recognized for safety month practices

CHAMBERS COUNTY — For the second year in a row, public officials and employees in Chambers County earned statewide recognition for their special efforts to improve safety and reduce accidents in the workplace.

During National Safety Month, county officials and employees conducted strategic risk management programs each week to enhance safety for both county employees and the public. These programs focused on housekeeping, road projects and property inspections, as well as heavy equipment use and maintenance. 

“In the hectic pace of life today, the contributions and commitment of officials and employees in county government are overlooked far too often,” said Sonny Brasfield, executive director of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama. “When we do that, we miss a thousand things — large and small — that they do each and every day to provide vital public services. I am proud to salute Chambers County for its continued investment in safety.”

This month-long initiative is an annual program of County Risk Services, the Montgomery-based organization working hand-in-hand with Alabama’s county governments in partnership with ACCA. In recognition of this safety month achievement, the county will receive a complimentary breakfast funded by CRS.

Chambers County is an active participant in ACCA’s self-funded insurance programs, designed to allow county commissions to pool their resources and expertise to provide savings to the taxpayers. Sixty-one county commissions and many other county government entities are members of one or more of these custom-tailored insurance programs: workers’ compensation, liability, property and cyber.
