CHAMBERS COUNTY — Chambers County Lake manager Alan Franks thanked the commissions for their help in making his and his wife’s first year managing the lake successful.

“Me and my wife are the managers of Chamber County Lake; this is our first year doing it, and I wanted to come and thank y'all personally for all the help we had from the county, the Sheriff's Department and the Highway Department [this year], and hopefully it continues,” he said. “Because it is a lot of help — there’s a lot of land out there.”

District 4 Commissioner Sam Bradford presented the awards from Alabama PALS to Chambers County. Both the Chambers County Commission and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office received Governor's Awards.

“For every group that picks up [litter], they get $250 for every mile they pick up,” Bradford said. “None of this could happen if the Commission did not budget for that. We partner with Alabama PALS, but it needs to be clear, it's getting picked up because of your County Commission — your tax dollars are paying those people money to pick up trash. It's a way to give money back to the community, and then also, we've had some signs made to try to make things a little bit better and make it a little safer.”
