CHAMBERS COUNTY — John J. Hall III was honored at the Jan. 16 Commission Meeting for 45 years of service and presented with a certificate to mark the achievement.
“John, we’re here to recognize you on your 45 years of dedication and service to Chambers County,” said Revenue Commissioner Beth Abney. “Your commitment, hard work and knowledge are essential for the revenue office to run properly. It’s been my honor to work alongside you for the past 28 years. I have truly appreciated your unwavering support for myself, the office and the taxpayers of Chambers County.”
Hall responded with appreciation for Chambers County and the recognition.
“I started working on Jan. 1, 1981, and I figured that at 35 years, I said, I could retire and draw as much as I did at that time,” he said. “But then I got to thinking, if I retired, I’d have to get another job, and there wasn’t any other job where I think I could ever be as happy as with the people I work with… This is a great county — I love it.”
Executive Director of the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Carrie Wood, updated the commission on the success of events held in the fall and winter and shared information on upcoming events.
“We have announced the Clover and Coles Battle of the Badges; our local police departments, fire departments and our Sheriff’s Department will be battling for the gold on March 14, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. ET at the Shawmut Airport,” she said. “I encourage you all to come, encourage the entire community to come and support our heroes who support us daily as they battle to take on three different categories. They’ll be cooking pulled pork, chicken and ribs, and there will also be a People’s Choice Award.”
