County wins fourth Alabama PALS Rural Award

CHAMBERS COUNTY — At the Oct. 20 Chambers County Commission meeting, District 4 Commissioner Sam Bradford announced that the Chambers County Roadside Litter Initiative has received its fourth consecutive award.

“The Chambers County Commission in 2022 funded our Roadside Litter Initiative,” Bradford said. “I am very pleased to report that for the fourth consecutive year, we have won an Alabama PALS Rural County Award — four times in a row. So congratulations to the Commission, and good things are spreading in that area.”

In Other Business

- The commission approved a resolution to utilize federal Local Road Safety Initiative grant funds to provide safety improvements.

Improvements include 2-foot paved shoulders at 12 curves and guardrail upgrades on County Road 83 from CR-299 to 600 feet north of CR-292 — approximately 4.63 miles — designated as Chambers County Project No. 09-08-26.

- The commission also approved a resolution to purchase a new Volvo PT125C Pneumatic Tire Roller from Cowin Equipment Company, Inc. through the Sourcewell Contract No. 011723-VCE.

Announcements

- A five-year transportation plan development work session will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.

- A public hearing on Chambers County’s Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan is scheduled for Nov. 3 at 3:45 p.m.

- The next Chambers County Commission meeting will take place on Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
