LAFAYETTE — Downtown LaFayette came alive with music, food, shopping and dancing Saturday, Oct. 10, during the second annual Downtown Music Crawl.

The rain-or-shine event ran from 1 to 9 p.m. and went on as planned despite Hurricane Isaias moving through the region overnight Friday and into Saturday morning. With the storm clearing out, residents and visitors turned out for an afternoon and evening of live music, food, shopping and community activities.

LaFayette Main Street Executive Director DeAnna Hand said the event brought residents and visitors together throughout downtown.

“Our legs may be sore from dancing, but our hearts are full,” Hand said.

Performers included Charlie Ray, Kit + Char, Dean Sheffield, Raley Montana Stripling, Tatyana Darden, Luke Keel, Kealey Clark, The B-Sides and Chuck Huckabee Huck Band.

New to the event this year was the first Downtown Grill-Off, sponsored by Newmans Farm Supply. Amateur and seasoned pitmasters competed for bragging rights and a $500 top prize.

“This was an idea from a local small business owner who wanted to sponsor this addition — Newmans Farm Supply,” Hand said before the event. “We know there are some great grill masters in this area, so now they get a chance to prove it and a chance to win $500.”

LaFayette Fire Department’s Grill Team 6 took home the title of 2026 Grill-Off Champion.

Other winners included David Howard; Brandon and Anthony Ison; Lance Caldwell and Josh Yerta; and Sawyer Sanders.

The Blue Button provided embroidered winner aprons, while Newmans Farm Supply sponsored the awards.

Hand said the Grill-Off added another layer of friendly competition to the event and gave local cooks a chance to showcase their skills while visitors enjoyed the rest of the downtown activities.

She thanked the musicians, volunteers, businesses, sponsors and community members who helped make the Music Crawl possible.

“This is what LaFayette Main Street is all about: bringing people together, supporting local businesses, celebrating community talent and creating moments we’ll remember for years to come,” Hand said.
