LAFAYETTE — Krave Korner unites food and family to create a customer experience that keeps community members coming back.
“Krave Korner is family owned and family based,” said manager Latetra Presley. “We do home-style food. We have a variety of food from breakfast, lunch and we do dinner on Thursdays and Friday nights. Our biggest nights are Thursday nights, which consist of steaks and catfish. We have some other entrees as well.”
Presley said that Krave Korner has been a way for her mother to minister to the community, and that she and her family are thankful for the community support they have received.
“With this restaurant and cooking, it’s really a ministry for my mom,” she said. “She’s been cooking for most all her life. This is our third time opening a restaurant. So we’re excited things are going very well for us right now. Started out kind of rocky, but we’re very blessed to say that we’ve gained a lot of strong support here in the community, from Main Street, different small businesses supporting and people from the community.”
Ruby Presley, owner of Krave Korner, said that she enjoys getting to know community members and connecting them with community support.
“I like meeting new people,” Ruby said. “I like ministering to the public, and we like to help somebody have a job.”
Through feeding the community, Latetra said that she gets to know locals better and appreciates the support she has experienced for her family’s business.
“I meet a lot of new people every day,” she said. “The best thing about it is getting to know them for yourself. A lot of people are very, very sweet. They are very, very caring.”
Sundays at Krave Korner are a place of fellowship and food for both the community and those who are working to serve customers.
“We enjoy being together,” Latetra said. “On Sundays, we always work together and cook in the back together, so we have a lot of time laughing and talking and being able to be with each other. When COVID was here, it put a lot of strain on families, and a lot of families didn’t get to spend this much time together. So to not be able to ... you can’t get that time back, but to be able to be together now, it just builds our bond even stronger.”
Ruby said that working with her family allows her to spend more time with them and develop stronger relationships.
“I get to spend more time with them,” she said. “If they were out working on another job, we wouldn’t get to spend this time together. They wouldn’t get to learn from me, hand-on-hand. Being a family is leaving a legacy to them that they got to work hard and they can do it.”
“If you try Krave Korner, you definitely crave to come back,” Latetra said. “It’s not a one-time stop. You’re going to get great service and great food. So if you come, you’re definitely [coming] back, and you definitely [will] want to tell someone and bring someone back. I encourage people to follow us on social media, from Instagram to Snapchat to Facebook.”
