Lady Rebels fall in extra innings, Rebels cruise to win

LAFAYETTE — It was a mixed night for Chambers Academy, as the Lady Rebels fought hard in an extra-inning loss while the Rebels baseball team powered its way through a shutout victory.
Lady Rebels Softball
For only the fifth time this season, the Lady Rebels lost a game, but it was not without rallying back and fighting in extra innings. Hooper took an 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Blakely
Allen drove in a run for the Lady Rebels in the bottom of the fourth, and Payton Earl tied it up with an RBI in the bottom of the fifth.
Hooper had a big sixth inning scoring four runs. Ansley Carter, Abigail Downey and Sophie Price all singled in the bottom of the sixth for the Lady Rebels to cut the Lady Colt lead 6-3.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Earl singled, and Allie Paschal and Tenley Benefield both doubled to send in two runs. Allen then singled to tie up the game 6-6. With a runner in scoring position, Allen got caught stealing home on a controversial call to send the Lady Rebels into extra innings.
Hooper added four runs in the top of the eighth. Downey doubled to send in a run in the bottom of the eighth, but with bases loaded, the Lady Rebels struck out, coming up short in their comeback.
Rebels Baseball
Colton Fuller got things started for the Rebels with an RBI to take a 1-0 lead in the third. Landon Hand singled in the fourth and was then driven in by Hunter Andrews. Fuller sent in another run in the fifth.
The Rebels had a big sixth inning. Tucker Thrower hit an RBI single, and with bases loaded, Bryce Modling doubled, sending in two more runs. Fuller then singled to send in one more score to give Chambers the 7-0 win.
Modling got the win on the mound, striking out five batters while only allowing two hits.
