LPD issues statement on Friday night shooting

LAFAYETTE — On Sept. 19, 2025 at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers with the LaFayette Police Department along with LaFayette EMS, were dispatched to the corner of Alabama Avenue East and 7th Street NE in reference to a male that had been shot.

Upon arrival, emergency personal located a 42-year-old Black male who had succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The LaFayette Police Department’s Investigations Unit is investigating the incident. One subject has been arrested relating to the shooting. Also we would like to thank Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, Lanett Police Department and Valley Police Department for their assistance.
