JAMES DAVID HUCKABY

James David Huckaby, 73, of LaFayette, passed away on Feb. 12, 2026, at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, on May 16, 1952, to the late Thomas and Mary Rivenbark Huckaby.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he was specialized as an auto mechanic, track vehicle mechanic, motor transportation operator and heavy truck driver. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medical, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal with two loops and Rifle Expert.

David was a retired long haul truck driver.

He is survived by several cousins, and many friends. He was preceded by his parents.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. CST at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in LaFayette with the Rev. Tommy Wilcox and the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiated. Family received friends at the cemetery prior to the service.

Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette assisted the family with the arrangments.
