PEGGY WELCH WILSON

Peggy Welch Wilson, 74, of LaGrange, Georiga, passed away on Feb. 18, 2026 at Poplar Creek Senior Care. She was born in LaFayette, on Nov. 22, 1951, to the late Grady and LaVelle Welch.

Peggy retired from West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange, after 30 years of teaching. She was a member of Trinity Methodist in LaGrange.

Peggy is survived by a sister, Jane (Tim) McClendon of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Johnny Wilson.

A graveside service was held on Sunday Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Congregational Christian Church Cemetery, 4472 CO Rd 53, LaFayette with the Rev. Barry Brooks officiating. Family received friends at the cemetery prior to the service.

The pallbearers were Tim McClendon, Ryan McClendon, Max McClendon, Randy Lindsey, Joel Welch and Bill Wright.

Jeff Jones Funeral Home of LaFayette, assisted the family with the arrangements.

EMILY O. MOORE KNIGHT SANDERS

Funeral services for Emily O. Moore Knight Sanders, age 93, of Wadley were held Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Corinth Christian Church with Bro. Ricky Cummings and Bro. Nance Bishop officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family received friends at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 20.

Mrs. Sanders passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Survivors include two children, Peggy K. White (Dudley) of Hartselle, Alabama, and Peter W. Knight (Candy) of McCalla, Alabama; four grandchildren, Geoff Knight, Brooke Fiore, Britt White and Brandon Knight; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sanders gained a second family when she married Yancey Sanders including five children, Linda Dewalt (Johnny), David Sanders (Debbie), Steve Sanders (Val), Emily Ragsdale (Doug) and Ron Sanders (Gina); 14 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her nephews Dale Knight, Mark Knight, Daniel Knight, Jimmy Evans, Kenneth Evans and Israel Henry.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Sanders was born on July 31, 1932, the daughter of Paul C. and Annie Ethel Cooper Moore. She was a member of Corinth Christian Church and worked at Clegg Penrose, Playtex and Russell Manufacturing before her retirement. She loved piano music, babies and vegetable gardening, especially her tomatoes. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Lewis Vernon Knight and Yancey Sanders; and three sisters, Pauline Beeker, Olive Cole and Annette Elliott.

Archie Carey Hamilton

Mr. Archie Carey Hamilton, 82, of Camp Hill died Friday, Feb. 13, 2026,

at Brown Nursing & Rehabilitation in Alexander City. Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 20, at Mt. Lovely Baptist Church in Camp Hill with the Rev. Bernard Harris, officiating. The interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Matilda Woodyard

Hamilton, whom he lovingly called “Sparkle”; one daughter Michele Hamilton of

Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four sons: Archie (Carol) Hamilton, Jr., Dadeville, Alabama, John Joseph (Keshia) Hamilton of Baton Rouge, Donnie (Maya) Hamilton and Tory Hamilton both of Camp Hill; three sisters Audrey Hamilton, Mobile, Alabama, Brenda Royal of Kenner, Louisiana and Joshlyn Griffin of Metairie, Louisiana; four brothers John A. Hamilton Jr., of Kenner, Nathaniel Hamilton, of Metairie, Oscar Hamilton of Metairie and Jessie Hamilton of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Ms. Gussie Lue Vines, 88, of Opelika (formerly of LaFayette) died Thursday,

Feb. 12, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services were held on Saturday,

Feb. 21, 2026, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 11322 Veterans Memorial Pkwy,

LaFayette with the Rev. Gary Dixon and Rev. Jerone Fannin officiating. The interment was in Garden Hill Cemetery, 1218 Frederick Road in Opelika, AL.

Ms. Vines is survived by seven devoted children: Carolyn Vines-Gary, Sheila

Davenport (William), Aundra Vines, Rev. Eduardo Vines (Faye), Timothy Vines

(Toni), Kindness Vines and Dr. Shewanda L. Vines; one brother Ray Finley;

17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
