HELEN ADAMS

Helen Adams, a devoted mother, grandmother and the cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully in her home on Feb. 5, 2026, at the age of 95.

Helen lived a life characterized by faith, hard work and an enduring love for her family and the beauty of the world around her.

She was the oldest living member of Pleasant Grove Congregational Christian Church. Her hands were rarely still. She found great joy and peace working in her garden and her flowers, tending to them with the same care she gave to her family. She was a retired textile employee.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Royce Williamson and Vicky Coker (Mike). Her legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren: Tracy Brown (Nancy), Steven Hanlon (Jen), Jason Hanlon (Trish), Kevin Williamson, Denise Gaddy, Chris Williamson, Shane Coker (Kathy) and Adam Coker (Tina).

She was the proud grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren: Will Brown; Nyssa, Shayla, Skylar and Callie Hanlon; Kaleb and Devin Williamson; Ashley Hester; Derrick and Dylan Gilley, Stiles and Sierra Williamson; Tristan and Ashtan Coker; Addiegale and Lynnlee Coker. She was also blessed with 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mae Thompson and her life long best friend, Louise Cox.

Helen is reunited in peace with her husband, Watson Adams; her daughter, Doreen Hanlon; her parents Will and Mary Looser, her son-in-law, Mike Williamson; and her two brothers, Buddy Thompson and Richard Looser (Mary Jo).

A funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 8, at Pleasant Grove Congregational Christian Church in Union Hill, Alabama with the Revs. Barry Brooks, Turk Holt and Mrs. Louise Cox officiating. A private family-only burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Grove Church.

CHARLES ALTON “AL”
MYERS JR.

Charles Alton “Al” Myers Jr., 68, of LaFayette, passed away on Feb. 6, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Chambers County, Alabama, on Aug. 19, 1957, to the late Charles and Carolyn Myers. Al owned and operated Myers 1 Stop and later worked and retired from Chambers County Sheriff’s Department. Al was an avid Alabama fan. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church Lanett, Alabama.

Al is survived by a son, Buddy (Fran) Groover of Lanett, four grandchildren, Chelsea Groover, Colby Groover, Logan (Hannah) Groover, and Ryan Groover.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Dianne Myers.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. ET 1 p.m. CT at Oakwood Cemetery, 1462 1st St. in Lanett, with the Rev. Mitch Hamilton officiating.

Family received friends at the cemetery prior to the service.

TIMOTHY TROY ADAMS

Timothy Troy Adams, 65, of Valley, Alabama, long-term resident of the Beauregard community, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.

Troy was born March 5, 1960, in Alabama to parents Charles H. Adams and Myrtle Holt Adams.

Troy graduated from Scott Prep in 1978 where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball and track. He developed a career in auto part sales in various parts stores in the Auburn-Opelika area where he gained lifelong friendships being the area’s preferred auto parts salesman.

He retired from the Lee County Board of Education’s bus shop in April 2025.

Troy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Enoch and Mabel Adams of Tuskegee; maternal grandparents, George B. and Eula Holt of the Society Hill community; and father, Charles H. Adams of Opelika.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Walker Adams; children Brandon Knight (Karlie) of Daphne, Anna Adams-Lunceford (Adam) of Beauregard and fur-baby, Cali; grandchildren, Mia Knight, Liam and Emily Claire Bowman. His mother, Myrtle Holt Adams; siblings, Ted Adams (Cathie), Jackie Adams Massey (Dale), Cathye Adams Kimble (Emmett) and Debra Adams Golden (Charles); nieces and nephews, Derek Adams (Kim), Drew Adams, Brent Massey, Brandon Massey (Stephanie), Holli Thomas (John), Dawn Golden, Melissa Drake and Justin Drake; and a host of extended family and lifelong friends.

A celebration of life for Troy will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, at noon at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Brother Rusty Sowell will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CARE Humane Society and/or to Providence Baptist church.

DAVID LEE WALLACE

Mr. David Lee Wallace, 77, of LaFayette died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 31, at New Dimensions Worship Center, with Bishop Donald Lancaster, officiating. The interment was in Essie J. Handy Memorial Cemetery, in LaFayette.

Mr. Wallace, a native of LaFayette, was a Staff Sgt. veteran in the U.S. Marines Corps. He served his country in the Vietnam War. Beyond his military service, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and family man.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his beloved wife, Lizzie Lee Wallace; children, Jennifer Wallace, Robin (Dexter) Holloway and VaShon B. Wallace; his brother Willie Frank Wallace Jr.; sisters- and brothers-in-law Patricia (Charles) Bledsoe, Debra (Danny) Wilson, Tara Magby, Carolyn Magby, Mark (Janice) Magby, Jimmy (Beverly) Magby, Frankie Magby, Emmitt Magby, Bobby (Gwen) Gaines, Greg Ray, Louise (Linzie) Askew, Susie Barker, Donna Huguley, Emma (Jerry) Morgan, Katrina Ray, Melissa Winston and Judy Gaines; special friends, Bill Burton and Christine Wallace; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
