RONNIE RAY VINES 

Nov. 9, 1959 - June 25, 2026

Mr. Ronnie Ray Vines, 66, of Camp Hill died Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Brown Nursing Home, Alexander City. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 3, at the Vines Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Harris officiating. The interment was held in the Centerview Baptist Church cemetery, Camp Hill. 

Mr. Vines is survived by his sister Emma Rowe; niece Jacqueline Harris (Nick); nephew Pastor Kenneth Harris (Elca); great-nieces Jessica, Tabitha, Lydia and Abigail; his great-nephews Christopher, Michael, Isaiah, Nicholas, Dominique and Daleytn; and a host of cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

BILLY "DWAYNE" AIKENS

Oct. 26, 1959 - July 2, 2026

Billy “Dwayne” Aikens, 66, of Fredonia, Alabama, passed away on July 2, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Chambers County, Alabama, on Oct. 26, 1959, to Alma Lois Aikens and the late Billy Dean Aikens.

He was a member of Fredonia Methodist Church. 

Dwayne was retired from the textile industry. He enjoyed playing guitar, and pickin’ and grinnin’ with his musician friends in the community and he wrote several songs. Dwayne also enjoyed talking on his ham radio, call sign K4BOA. 

Dwayne is survived by his wife, Gaye Ennis Aikens; daughter Tina (Corey) Vial of Nebraska; stepson David Long of South Carolina; mother Alma Lois Aikens of Lanett; sister  Loretta Smith of LaFayette; grandchildren Aiden and Helena Vial.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepson Mike Long. 

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 5, at Fredonia Methodist Church, in Five Points, with the Rev. Jason Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the church, prior to the service.

MILDRED MOZELLE DEAN 

March 31, 1931 -
June 25, 2026

Mildred Mozelle Dean, 95, of LaFayette, passed away on June 25, 2026, in Opelika at her daughter’s residence. She was born in Schley County, Georgia, on March 31, 1931, to the late William and Eva Robinson.

She was a member of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church.

Mozelle was retired from the Russell Corp. in LaFayette after 16 years of service and 21 years with Playtex.

Mozelle is survived by children Larry (Cathy) Dean, Janice (Larry) Thrower and Christie Neiswinger; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Allen Dean; daughter Cynthia Gill; three sisters; one brother; and great-granddaughter, Zoie Vernon. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 11 a.m. CT at LaFayette Heights Baptist Church 1200 AL Hwy 77 in LaFayette, with the Rev. Dave Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at LaFayette City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.

FRANCES EDITH DRAKE 

July 5, 1937 - June 28, 2026

Frances Edith Drake, 88, of Roanoke died Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Cherry Hill Nursing Home, Birmingham. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Canaan Baptist Church, Roanoke with Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. The interment was in the church cemetery. Public viewing was on Monday, July 6, at Vines Funeral Home.

Ms. Drake is survived by her nieces: Freida Oliver, Birmingham, Olga (Carl) Perry, Douglasville, Georgia, Reta Drake, Sierra Vista, Arizona and a nephew: Willie Edward Morre, Vicenza, Italy and a host of other relatives and friends.
