Policy meets people at upcoming Lanett Town Hall

Community members from across East Alabama are invited to attend the Policy Is Personal Community Town Hall on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. ET at Cal's Place, 1606 19th St. SW, Lanett, Alabama.

Sponsored by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the free event is part of a regional series of Policy Town Halls designed to bring community voices into conversations about the issues, policies and priorities affecting the lives of Alabamians.

The Policy Is Personal Community Town Hall series connects advocacy efforts with the communities they serve. Residents are invited to share their concerns, experiences and perspectives while learning how advocacy priorities can help address the issues that matter most to their families and neighborhoods. Through open dialogue and community engagement, organizers hope to ensure that the voices of Alabamians help inform and shape future policy and advocacy efforts.

The town hall will provide a welcoming space for residents, faith leaders, civic organizations, business owners and other community stakeholders to discuss local challenges, exchange ideas and engage in meaningful conversations about issues impacting Alabama communities. Organizers encourage attendees to come prepared to share their experiences and help identify solutions that can strengthen communities throughout the region.

The event is free and open to the public, and a light meal will be provided. Community members are encouraged to RSVP in advance at https://www.splcenter.org/policy-is-personal/.
