CITY OF LAFAYETTE

FIRE HYDRANT FLOW TESTING

Monday, October 27th, 2025 to

Friday, October 31st, 2025

Testing will be between the hours of

7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

*** Please do not park in the close vicinity of hydrants and remain clear of the

area when testing is in progress. ***

The City of LaFayette Water, Sewer, Fire Department, and SEMS LLC (Southeast Management Services) will be conducting fire hydrant testing on its water system and fire hydrants between the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., starting Monday, October 27th. 2025 through Friday, October 31st, 2025. Testing will begin from the city’s water distribution system outward by quadrants.

Flowing fire hydrants may result in the temporary discoloration of water. Discolored water is not an unusual side effect of opening fire hydrants, nor does it indicate any type of problem in the water system. Flowing and maintenance is a routine procedure that results in improved water service for users.

Residents are advised not to wash light-colored clothes if their water is stained or discolored.

The City of LaFayette asks for your patience and understanding during this important fire hydrant testing process.

Please call City Hall at 334-864-7181 should you have any questions.
