Rebel basketball continues to roll across the courts

JV Girls
After beating Hooper on Monday, the JV Lady Rebels picked up another win against The Rock Academy on Tuesday. The Rock jumped out to a quick 0-5 lead, but a McKinley Hendricks’ three pointer tied it up, and a shot under the goal gave Chambers a 9-5 lead at the end of the first. Peyton Standford pulled the basket and one in the second quarter, and Hendricks followed up with two baskets to give Chambers a 19-6 lead at the half. The JV Lady Rebels pulled out the 25-12 win over The Rock Academy and then went on to beat Coosa Valley to round out the week. Against the Rock, McKinley Hendricks led the scoring for the Rebels with nine points, followed by Klancey Phillips with eight.
JV Boys
After losing to Hooper on Monday, the JV Rebels bounced back in a big way over The Rock Academy. Tounchie Taylor stole the ball and took it to goal to put Chambers on the board. Braxton and Bentley Terry both found the basket under the goal to give Chambers a big 17-5 lead at the end of the first. Taylor contined to play hardy defense, intercepting the ball several times for baskets to help the Rebels carry a 27-12 lead into the locker room. Taylor kicked off the scoring in the second half with three baskets, and Yates Lashley rounded out the scoring with a two pointer to give Chambers the 49-19 win. The Rebels added another tally to the win column on Friday with a win over Coosa Valley.
Varsity Girls
After falling to Hooper on Monday in a close 34-38 contest, the Lady Rebels were able to bounce back against Coosa Valley. Chambers outscored their opponent by more than 30 points, played amazing defense and won the game 41-4.
Varsity Boys
The Rebels played a nailbiter to kick off the week against Hooper. Chambers trailed 20-33 at the half, but a big fourth quarter pushed the Rebels into overtime with game tied at 53 all at the end of regulation. Fouls against the Rebels hurt them in overtime as Hooper scored on four of 10 free throw attempts which made the difference in the game, as the Rebels fell 68-70. Christian Terry gave great performance in the game scoring 27 points. The Rebels dominated in their next matchup against The Rock Academy. Christian Terry and Jake Reames opened up the game with threes, and the baskets continued as the Rebels led 27-7 at the end of the first. Chambers made long passes to find men under goal for quick points in the second and led 49-14 at the half. The scoring was not finished for the Rebels as they rolled to a 71-29 victory. The Rebels capped off their week with a big win over Coosa Valley.
