LAFAYETTE — The Chambers Academy Rebels’ baseball run came to an end last week in the final four of the AISA AA Playoffs. The Rebels faced Southern Academy with the winner advancing to the AISA AA State Championship Series.
After a tough 11-1 loss in the first game, the Rebels put up a fight in the second game. Trailing 6-0 going into the sixth inning, the Rebels started to turn things around. Eli Whorton, Landon Hand and Tucker Thrower all singled to get a run in. Sam Smith then hit an RBI single, and Bryce Modling hit a sacrifice fly to cut the Cougar lead in half. Colton Fuller sent in one more run to make it a close 6-4 game.
The Cougars added two more scores in the bottom of the sixth. The Rebels started to rally putting runners in scoring position in the seventh, but a pop out ended the game and Chambers’ hopes of advancing.
The Rebels ended a successful season with a 23-11 record.
