Renasant Bank in Valley to host Banking on Hope food truck benefit

VALLEY — Renasant Bank’s Valley branch is bringing local flavor to the fight against breast cancer this fall with its upcoming Banking on Hope food truck benefit.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, kicking off at 11 a.m. ET in the bank’s lower parking lot at 3216 20th Ave. in Valley, located in front of the former bowling alley. Community members are invited to come out for food, family-friendly activities and fundraising in support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama.
The benefit is part of Renasant Bank’s annual “Pink-tober” campaign, an initiative across branches to raise funds and awareness throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Valley branch has historically led the charge.
“The bank does it every year... we take all the proceeds of everything we get donated, and we donate it straight to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama,” said Jamie Bonner with Renasant Bank in Valley. “It’s a huge thing that we do every year. And every year, the Valley branch has won with the most money raised.”
Hoping to build on that momentum, Bonner looked for a new way to rally the local community.
“I was trying to find different things to do to raise more money, and everybody likes food trucks,” Bonner said. “I thought, well, let’s try to do a food truck benefit and see how far that’ll go.”
The lineup features a wide variety of mobile eats and refreshments, including Dirty Dozen Doughnuts, Monster Sandwich PTC, Soda Splash, Big Daddy’s DGF and Lee’s Lemonade and Treats.
Participating vendors will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. The trucks plan to serve until 6 p.m. ET, or until supplies run out.
In addition to food, the event will offer family entertainment and multiple fundraising raffles. Organizers are working to secure a bounce house for children, alongside a table selling breast cancer awareness merchandise. Attendees can also enter a 50/50 cash raffle and bid on curated gift baskets filled with items donated by local businesses.
For Bonner and the Valley branch team, the mission behind the day hits close to home.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we do it big because it’s really dear to our hearts,” Bonner said, noting her grandmother passed away from the disease, while former Chambers County Sheriff Sid Lockhart was also diagnosed with breast cancer. “Just bringing the community together and realizing that it’s a big deal for us to find a cure for any type of cancer... it is out there and men can get it as well. It’s really important to go get your mammograms and go to the doctor.”
