LAFAYETTE — Renfroe’s Market makes a mark on LaFayette as a full-service, family-owned grocery store built on three core principles: exceptional customer service, fresh and high-quality products and a clean, easy shopping experience.

“LaFayette is a tight-knit, welcoming community,” said owner Rob Renfroe. “People care about their neighbors, and there’s a pride in supporting local businesses. We enjoy seeing customers multiple times a week, hearing about their families and being part of everyday life. From tailgates to holiday dinners, we love knowing our store plays a role in those special moments.”

As the LaFayette community shops and supports Renfroe’s, Renfroe said he has enjoyed giving back to the same community where his shoppers reside.

“The support has been overwhelming and humbling,” he said. “Our customers don’t just shop with us, they know our team by name and vice versa. Many of our employees grew up right here in the area, and that creates a special connection. We’ve been able to support local schools, food banks and events, but honestly, the community gives back to us even more by shopping local, sharing kind words and helping spread the word about Renfroe’s.”

With a family-owned business opening almost 30 years ago, Renfroe said he understands the importance of community support and customer service.

“My dad, Robert Renfroe, started the business in 1997 with one store on McGehee Road in Montgomery,” he said. “I came into the business in 2006 and worked in that store until we opened our Dadeville location in 2008. From that point, we have slowly built to eight locations in and around East-Central Alabama. We want to serve the people in the communities that we are in and provide a premier shopping experience where each customer can feel the appreciation we have for them shopping with us.”

As Renfroe’s expanded across East Alabama, Renfroe said his family has worked to ensure the expansion of the market serves the community the location is moving to.

“Our family owns and operates every Renfroe’s Market location,” he said. “What started with one store has grown into multiple markets across central and East Alabama, including LaFayette, Alex City, Dadeville, Smiths Station, Phenix City and Montgomery. Each new location is a thoughtful decision; we don’t expand just to grow, we expand when we feel we can serve a community well and add real value. Over the years, we’ve invested in modernizing stores, upgrading equipment and bringing in great products like Sterling Silver beef, Prairie Fresh pork, craft beer and wine and our own Renfroe’s private-label items.”

Since opening Renfroe’s in LaFayette, Renfroe said he has enjoyed watching the growth of the location and the community connection.

“We opened the LaFayette location in 2019, and it’s been incredible to watch how it’s grown,” he said. “When we first opened, our biggest goal was to earn the trust of the community. Over time, sales have grown steadily, but more importantly, relationships have grown. We see familiar faces every day, families who shop with us weekly and young people who worked here as their first job and now bring their own families in to shop. The store has become a true community hub.”

Renfroe said committed customers continue to come back to Renfroe’s for fan-favorites and fresh foods.

“Customers love our fresh-cut meats,” he said. “Especially Sterling Silver steaks, ground chuck and our ‘Pick 5.’ Our produce department is known for its freshness and variety. People also love our local products, like Renfroe’s salsas and seasonings and weekly ad specials that deliver great value.”

Renfroe said that when customers support the family-owned Renfroe’s, it positively impacts their community.

“[Support] means everything,” he said. “Owning a small, family business is both challenging and rewarding, and the support we’ve received reminds us why we started. When people choose to shop local, they’re helping us provide jobs, give back to schools and food banks and keep this community thriving. It’s humbling, motivating and we will never take it for granted.”

“We want people to know that Renfroe’s Market isn’t just a grocery store,” Renfroe said. “It’s a family business built to serve families. Our team works hard every day to make shopping enjoyable, affordable and personal. We’re committed to keeping Renfroe’s local, fresh and focused on service and we’re grateful for the trust the community places in us. Our motto is, ‘Discover the Difference,’ and we hope every visit lives up to that promise.”
