LAFAYETTE — Building community and supporting local businesses, The Oaks Farm is holding a Shop, Sip, Eat, Bingo event on Feb. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. — with The Valley Local partnering to facilitate bingo.

“We wanted to have our local vendors come out — both vendors that sell their products, along with a couple of food trucks — because we understand that it is hard for some of these small businesses coming out of the holidays,” said The Oaks Farm Co-Owner Heather “Jersey” Weldon. “We wanted to give them the opportunity to set up, recoup some of their funds and get their products out there. The holidays can be a little tough on all of us, so we wanted to have this event, to have them out here. We are hosting it inside, due to the rain. The cold and [the weather] this time of year is so unpredictable.”

Along with providing a space for food trucks and small business owners to share their products with those who are attending, Weldon said she hopes this event will connect entrepreneurs with business opportunities to help them throughout the year.

“This is the perfect opportunity for two local businesses, The Valley Local and ourselves, to really partner together and showcase some of our local vendors and food trucks out there, and to show what is available outside of the big box stores and the restaurants,” she said. “We know that the food trucks are so delicious, but they set up at different spots — so by getting a couple of them together, helping them out and showcasing them — we hope it will help them get booked for additional private parties or other events.”

Executive Director of the Valley Local, Sara Crutchfield, said she was excited for the event and enjoys partnering with The Oaks Farm to cultivate community fun.

“We love partnering with The Oaks Farm on events because they genuinely care about bringing people together and creating experiences that they feel are welcoming and fun for everyone,” she said. “We have enjoyed Bingo Nights with The Oaks Farm in the past,

and we’re really looking forward to the Shop, Sip, Eat, Bingo event. It’s

always a great night filled with community, laughter and friendly competition. For those who want to participate in bingo, cards can be purchased at the event; just don’t forget to bring your dobber. We encourage everyone to come out, support a local business and enjoy a fun evening together. We look forward to continuing to partner with the Oaks Farm on future events as well.”

Weldon said she hopes the community comes to the event, enjoys the vendors and bingo — and supports their local businesses.

“We are always looking to support one another, and this is a great way to do that,” she said. “On that Saturday afternoon, come out to join in on the fun. Hopefully, you’ll get to win something at bingo, but also [you’ll have the opportunity to] support our small business friends from around the area and help them grow — we want to see them grow.”
