LAFAYETTE — Downtown LaFayette is gearing up to offer a morning of wellness, local flavor and fellowship as LaFayette Main Street hosts Sip & Sculpt on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Held at The Spot on the Square — located at 17 LaFayette St. South — the event kicks off at 9 a.m. CT and invites participants to take part in a guided sculpt workout while enjoying a refreshing drink from LaFayette Nutrition. The collaborative morning was organized in partnership with Dadeville’s Lake Life Wellness Studio.

According to LaFayette Main Street Executive Director DeAnna Hand, the idea for the event originated from a local resident who fell in love with classes at Lake Life Wellness Studio and brought the concept to the organization.

“She brought the Sip & Sculpt to us at LMS because she knows we are always looking for creative ways to bring people downtown and offer different experiences,” Hand said. “Sip & Sculpt combines wellness, community and supporting local businesses in a fun setting. Partnering with LaFayette Nutrition and Lake Life Wellness Studio made it a great fit and a collaborative effort to bring something new to downtown LaFayette.”

For Main Street, the event is part of an ongoing mission to transform downtown from a thoroughfare into a destination.

“A big part of Main Street’s mission is creating a downtown where people want to spend time and not just drive through,” Hand said. “Events don’t always have to be large festivals to make an impact. Smaller experiences give people another reason to come downtown and discover local businesses. This also allows the Spot on the Square’s view of our beautiful historic courthouse as a backdrop for all to enjoy and us to use this space exactly as we envisioned it.”

Hand said the morning is designed to be accessible and low stress for attendees.

“It will be a fun, relaxed morning at The Spot on the Square,” Hand said. “Guests can enjoy a drink from LaFayette Nutrition while participating in a guided sculpt workout led by Lake Life Wellness Studio. It’s about movement, fellowship and doing something fun together downtown.”

Leading the movement portion is Liv Nay, owner of Lake Life Wellness Studio in downtown Dadeville. Nay will bring her studio’s popular sculpt Pilates format to the open-air venue on the downtown square.

“Our Sip & Sculpt event is going to be so fun,” Nay said. “We are going to get our mats out and have ourselves a nice morning. We are going to have our sculpt Pilates class out there, and we do the same class over at our studio in downtown Dadeville. We’ll incorporate a small set of weights, resistance bands and other props. It’s going to be a great full-body workout.”

For Nay, the session is also an opportunity to connect across county lines and introduce neighboring communities to what her studio offers.

“It’s so awesome to be able to partner with other wellness businesses out of town from Dadeville, and it’s super exciting to get to expand out to LaFayette and to tell people in the LaFayette area about what we do, all we are and what we offer,” Nay said. “It’s super cool to be able to partner with LaFayette Nutrition... and to bring wellness into the LaFayette area.”

Above all, Nay is eager to welcome both fitness regulars and newcomers to the mat.

“I’m just super excited to meet everyone and to meet new people,” Nay said. “That’s one of the most exciting things about my job and having the studio — seeing new faces walking through the doors the first time or seeing someone new at an event. I want to talk to them and sit down with them and know their whole history... it’s a great thing to be able to talk to new people and to get them as excited about wellness as I am.”

Tickets for the Sip & Sculpt event are $25, which includes the guided workout and a specialty beverage from LaFayette Nutrition. Attendees are asked to wear comfortable workout clothes and bring their own yoga mat, water and any personal props needed for comfort.

Registration is open online through Lake Life Wellness Studio at lakelifewellnessstudio.com/upcoming-events.

“I hope people leave feeling good about their morning and their community,” Hand said. “It’s an opportunity to spend time with friends, meet someone new, support local businesses and experience downtown differently.”
