VALLEY — District 4 Council Member Marquetta Madden recognized Elder Reginald Dunn and announced Aug. 1, 2025, as a Day of Prayer.

“Now we will pray,” said Dunn. “We pray for many different things. We pray for our school system. We pray for our children. We pray for the city, and we pray for the government. We pray for, you name it, pretty much. We cover all grounds, and so we just thank God for allowing us to come together and y'all see the need, that there is a need to pray, as we continue to see in the many different things happening now. So let's, let's just continue to come together and pray, and we'll see God’s hand move.”

Valley Police Chief Mike Reynolds recognized the retirement of Sargeant Duane Vallia and awarded him with his badge and service weapon.

“In recognition of 23 years of exemplary service in law enforcement throughout your distinguished career as an officer, detective, drug task force agent, shift supervisor and animal control officer, you have consistently embodied professionalism, empathy and wisdom,” Reynolds said. “You have set the standard by which a police officer should be measured. While your presence will be greatly missed, know that your legacy lives on in the many officers you have trained, guided and mentored.”
