CHAMBERS COUNTY — The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is holding a Saturday full of Saint Patrick’s Day fun, on March 14. Kick off the morning with the Clover & Coals Leprechaun Ride and engage with local first responders at the Clover & Coals Battle of the Badges.

“The chamber is excited for both of these events, and we look forward to seeing everyone come out,” said Executive Director of the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Carrie Wood. “We do want to mention that there will be a Grand Champion of the Clover & Coals Battle of the Badges, which will be judged by local judges, and there will also be a People’s Choice Award. So we are going to charge $5 for you to have that opportunity to taste each department’s products, then you will be given a token and get to vote on your choice of who gets the People’s Choice Award. So we want to make sure that once you taste our product, you vote and make sure to stick around to see who wins.”

The Clover & Coals Battle of the Badges will be held at the Shamut Airport in Valley from noon to 4 p.m. ET. Locals will get to watch local police and fire departments face off in a BBQ cook-off and enjoy a family-friendly day of activities, food and live music while supporting those who serve Chambers County.

The Clover & Coals Leprechaun Ride check-in will begin at 10 a.m. ET, and the ride will begin at 11 a.m. Adult tickets — for those ages 18 and up — are $25, and youth tickets — for children 12 and up — are $15. Registration must be complete by March 4 at the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce office, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Fraternal Order of the Police Lodge No. 20.

“Join us for the Clover & Coals Leprechaun Ride,” Wood said. “Dress in your best leprechaun gear, grab your bike, your friends, your coworkers and join us for the festivities. The ride will kick off at the Chamber Office and end at the grand entrance at the Battle of the Badges kick-off.”

Wood said the Leprechaun Ride is going to be a family-friendly, fun event for locals to engage with their local first responders.

“It’s going to be amazing when [the riders] enter the event, while everyone is there focusing on the first responders and then cooking, they get to make that grand entrance into the event with their decorated bikes and their cute little costumes,” she said. “And then they [will ride] around one lap, once they get there, around the walking trail at the airport. I think it’s going to be amazing. I can just see everyone clapping, the music going and it’s just going to be a good day.”
