CONTRIBUTED TO THE LAFAYETTE SUN

EAST ALABAMA — The East Alabama Union District participated in the Northeast District’s annual Make a Weekend 5K Walk & Community Give Back on Aug. 8 at New Mt. Sellers Baptist Church in LaFayette.

The event brought together churches, community members and volunteers for a day focused on health, fellowship and service. The LaFayette Police Department escorted participants during the 5K walk.

As part of the outreach effort, the East Alabama Union District collected throw blankets for dialysis patients. The blankets were donated to dialysis centers in Valley, Roanoke and Opelika.

Organizers thanked participating churches, sponsors, volunteers and community supporters for their donations and assistance in making the event successful.
