LAFAYETTE — Chambers County ACES Director Rachel Snoddy presented an annual report for the Chambers County Community Health and Wellness Center during the city of LaFayette council meeting Monday night. Snoddy explained that the center sees an average of more than 100 patients per month which means it is a top performing OnMed station in the U.S. This access to rural healthcare has been of critical importance to area residents — 66% of patients surveyed responded they are not being seen by a primary care physician.
“This is for the period of Jan. 1 through June 30 of this year,” Snoddy said. “We have had regular blood pressure screenings, we have had asthma screenings, hearing screenings, primary care clinics, speech sessions, cardio and nutrition classes, women's health. Overall, we have delivered a total of 85 events [with] 607 participants. I just want to point out that is on top of our patients that we see in our OnMed care station.”
Following that report LaFayette Fire and EMS Chief Jim Doody shared details of the 9/11 mobile exhibit that will be on display in Opelika this coming week.
“In your packet you will have a flyer about the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit that is making its first appearance in the state of Alabama,” Doody said. “It will be at Southern Union's campus in Opelika from Sept. 11 through Sept. 16. On the 11th it will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Sept. 12 it will be for students; Sept. 14, 15 it will be open 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Sept. 15 and 16 open for students from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then open to the public from 3 to 6 p.m. Currently we have 1,700 eighth-grade students from the region that are scheduled to tour the museum while it is here.”
