VALLEY — Boyd’s Shirt Shop offers personalized shirts and hats for local businesses, teams, schools and more.

“I have been in business for about 18 years,” said Boyd’s Shirt Shop Owner and Operator Colleen Boyd. “We are doing DTF type of printing now. We do shirts and hats. We support a lot of the local rec programs and schools.”

Boyd said she started her shirt shop after noticing a need for affordable shirts made locally, and she appreciates the community support she has experienced over her years in business.

“I started because my husband had a mechanic shop, and he wanted to make some T-shirts to give away for advertisement, and when I called around to get prices, it was a little out of my budget,” she said. “So instead, I made the jump and just started making them myself. So it took me several years of a lot of mess-ups to learn everything. I’m very thankful to have a large, loyal clientele.”

Along with offering personalized shirts, Boyd said she offers premade shirts with designs for local schools and seasonal shirts for events like the first day back to school.

“We have a supply of all the local school T-shirts, like spirit shirts, in stock,” she said. “I try to keep my prices down to affordable pricing, which is hard with everything the way it is now, but we still try to make sure that we have stuff here for local needs.”

Boyd said customers can visit with a shirt design in mind and she will work with the customer to make the shirt as desired.

“If they have a design, we just work off of that,” she said. “If they don’t, and they have something in mind, we can get a proof up, or get some ideas going to get them what they want designed. Usually, what I do at that point would be give them a proof of that design, and then they can take it back to their club, organization, church or whatever it may be.”

With trucker hats in style right now, Boyd said she has a trucker hat personalization station that customers can come in and enjoy, or they can personalize a hat while waiting for an order.

“We do have a DIY trucker hat bar where you can stop in and make your own trucker hat while you wait,” she said. “We’ve got patches of all different kinds, you just pick them out and we put them on the hat for you. So that’s a really good way to personalize something for yourself.”

Boyd said she enjoys getting to explore her creativity when designing shirts and creating customers’ ideas.

“I’ve been artistic my whole life,” she said. “I’ve always loved art and making things and painting or drawing or something along those lines. So when I started doing this, it kind of just fell into that same category for me. I enjoyed making somebody’s ideas come to life.”

With many customers, local businesses and events utilizing Boyd’s Shirt Shop, Boyd said she enjoys attending community events and seeing her shirts on locals.

“It is kind of crazy to walk into somewhere and see a large percentage of people, kids and adults, having a shirt on that I made, or I designed,” she said.
