CHAMBERS COUNTY — The Chambers County Commission began its Nov. 3 meeting by voting for the 2026 Chairman and Vice Chairman. The four commissioners present voted unanimously to elect District 2, Douglas Jones, as Chairman, and District 4, Sam Bradford, as Vice Chairman of the Chambers County Commission.

Sheriff Jeff Nelson awarded Arthur Grady a five-year certificate of service.

“It's been my honor and privilege to work with you,” Nelson said. “You do an outstanding job taking care of everybody down there at the annex. A lot of folks see a lot of people coming in and out of this courthouse. If you want to see folks coming in and out, run down there to the annex — it's worse than Walmart. They stay busy — [it’s] 24/7 down there — rain or shine, and I thank you for everything you do.”
