CUSSETA — Clubs & Hatchets is opening in Cusseta on Aug. 27 and will offer axe throwing, golf simulators, dart throwing, food and drinks.
“Aug. 27 will be our official opening day,” said Clubs & Hatchets co-owner Tara Brumfield. “It's a pretty neat concept. We've got safety rules that you have to abide by. You can't come in here and throw with sandals on. If you don't have any prior experience with axe throwing, we'll be able to give you instructions on how to properly throw an axe.”
Tara said they will offer memberships for local golfers to utilize the golf simulators for practice.
“For avid golfers, we have memberships as well for the golf simulators, where they can sign up for three different levels of memberships,” she said. “It's all on our website; they can choose a membership to join, and it provides them with additional playing time.”
Another way golfers can enjoy the simulators at Clubs & Hatchets is through the tournaments that the owners plan to host.
“We will have a state-of-the-art golf simulator, you can play just about any course, they can choose from around 400,” she said. “We plan to offer golf tournaments where individuals can sign up to play in the tournament, and then we’ll offer prizes for the winner. They can also play to be eligible to enter personally. We got the golf simulation equipment from Trackman, who offers their own version of golf tournaments as well, and those can be played with people from all over, so they’ll have an opportunity to be able to enter into those golf tournaments too.”
Tara’s son and the other co-owner of Clubs & Hatchets, Daniel Brumfield, said the process of renovating the space has taken time and effort, and said he is excited to see the business open soon.
“It has been a fun time, a lot of long days and long nights contemplating what we need to do and change,” he said. “You get going on one thing, and then you notice that that's wrong, and you've got to take it back down and redo it. But we're getting closer to where that's not going to happen anymore. So I'm happy about that. I'm happy that construction is finalized and we're starting to get to the fun.”
Tara said the intention behind Clubs & Hatchets is to provide a family-friendly fun option for locals.
We want to be something fun and different for the community,” she said. “We're going to have lots of TVs, so if they want to come out and watch their favorite sports game while watching people throw axes, they can. We're going to offer bar food. We're going to have things like barbecue sliders, buffalo chicken dip sliders, chicken finger baskets, cheese sticks, garlic knots, and that kind of thing. And then, of course, we're going to offer a full bar as well, with some signature drinks.”
