Commission receives request for repairs to County Road 297

VALLEY — Chambers County Resident Nancy Perry requested that the commission pursue repairs of County Road 297.
“I’m here to ask you and plead for your help on getting parts of our road repaired, not totally resurfaced, but repaired,” she said. “It’s County Road 297.”
Perry said that the damage on County Road 297 is not just an aesthetic issue; she said it is dangerous and a hazard for drivers.
“There are areas on our road that aren’t just an aggravation — they are hazards,” she said. “The road is so bad in places, in curves and on hills, so that you not only dodge the road, but you Dodge cars driving down the wrong side of the road or up the middle of the road to try and avoid them. I’m not asking or expecting that whole five-mile road to be repaved, but even 1,000 feet could be repaired.”
Perry presented a petition to the commission that all of the residents on her street signed, except one resident who Perry said was out of town.
“I respectfully ask that you accept this petition, and I have written a letter that I would like to share with each of you, just kind of reinforcing or maybe adding some things that are outside,” she said. “I’ve also got pictures if you’re interested in looking, and I invite you to come to my house and drive down that road.”
