Family Fun Day event to be held in LaFayette

LAFAYETTE — As the summer season enters its later days, there is a Family Fun Day event coming up in LaFayette that is sure to put smiles on the faces of local residents of all ages.
It is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, in the Cattlemen’s Building at the Chambers County Rodeo Arena and is being organized by the Chambers County chapter of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.
“Family Fun Day is more than a fun outing — it is an opportunity for families to connect, learn and create lasting memories together,” Chapter President Taylor Arnett said. “Children and adults will gain a better understanding of animal care, farm operations, where their food comes from and how agricultural products are used in everyday life. Families will have the chance to see farm animals up close, participate in hands-on learning activities for all ages and support local agriculture-related businesses at vendor booths. Most importantly, the event offers quality family time, opportunities to meet new friends and the potential to inspire the next generation to become involved in agriculture.”
Arnett explained what inspired her organization to plan the event and host it.
“We wanted to create an event that would engage both youth and adults, whether they have an agricultural background or are simply interested in learning more,” she said. “Our goal is to provide a meaningful look at agriculture in our area, offer opportunities to connect with individuals in the agriculture industry and provide fun, family-friendly activities for children to enjoy. The event will include craft activities, hands-on learning opportunities, vendors, educational booths, live animals and concessions.”
Arnett said this event can have a positive impact on youth.
“The Cattlemen’s mission for this event is to encourage youth involvement in agriculture, recognizing that they are the future of the industry,” she said. “While cattle may not be the area of interest for every child, agriculture reaches far beyond one sector. Through this event, we hope to educate youth, spark their interest and help them take the first steps toward agricultural projects or activities that inspire them and building life-long fundamentals.”
Arnett had a special message for the community.
“We hope families experience a day filled with both enjoyment and learning,” she said. “Even those familiar with agriculture can discover something new, and we hope children leave with positive memories, new friendships and a greater understanding of agriculture. For families who are new to farming or agricultural life, we hope the event provides a welcoming opportunity to learn, connect, fellowship and have fun together.”
