VALLEY — The Valley Local is inviting food trucks and small businesses to apply to set up and share their products with the community. The spots are available for the month of January and possibly February, and can be reserved on a daily basis or longer. Apply at forms.gle/YonndWzDKzBP3e517.

“Anyone can reach out to me for the link; my cell phone number is (706) 773-0083, or they can email us at thevalleylocalevents@gmail.com,” said Director of the Valley Local Sara Crutchfield. “We're limiting it to five food trucks a day, or seven businesses a day. So, they must have a city of Valley business license and a Chambers County business license. So this is for all the businesses that don't have a storefront, but they have these licenses to be able to come out and sell their items, so [the space] can be their storefront for those days or weeks.”

Crutchfield said her goal with helping facilitate this space for food trucks and businesses to set up is to help local business owners, who do not have a storefront, connect with customers.

“My goal with this is nothing more than for them to get so many customers that they see that they could have a brick and mortar — if that's something that they have a goal of,” she said. “[I want them] to see that their community will support them, and the community does enjoy their food [and the things] that they have to offer. ...I'm hoping that our community shows up and supports the food trucks. I would love nothing more than to see some become brick and mortars here in Chambers County.”

As Crutchfield has begun to share this opportunity on the Valley Local social media, she said local food truck and business owners have shared their excitement about the opportunity of setting up at the pavilion near the merry-go-round.

“They're super excited to have somewhere to go and set up in a location that's right there on Highway 29 — because they don't really have that option [of setting up in public spaces] without going to other businesses and asking if they can set up in their parking lot,” she said. “So they seem to be pretty excited about having somewhere in a centralized area where they can set up right there on Highway 29.”

As locals go about their daily activities, Crutchfield said she wants to encourage them to stop and support their local businesses by visiting the food trucks set up at the pavilion.

“If you see these businesses set up on these dates, stop by and visit with them,” she said. “Show them support, because these businesses do support our community. They have a license in our community, so they are directly supporting our area. And so with that, they also need our support.”
