CHAMBERS COUNTY — Community business leaders, local officials and chamber members gathered last week for the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Meeting dinner. The meal was catered by Terri’s Mill Village Cafe of Valley, and there was music performed by musician Charlie (Big Saxy) Ray.

GVACC board member Greg Nichols welcomed the assembled audience.

“This is the 62nd annual dinner that we have had here for the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce,” Nichols said. “We are so glad and so excited to have you with us this evening. The three primary purposes I think of are to support our community; promote our community — to really support the businesses and the members that are part of the chamber — and to provide networking for our members to get together. I think we have accomplished that tonight with this event that we have.”

Outgoing GVACC Board President Christy Stephens reflected on the growth she has seen in the Chambers over the last year.

“We are truly blessed to have the support of our businesses and community when reflecting on the past year,” Stephens said. “The chamber has acquired 26 new members. We have hosted a list of events including 21 ribbon cuttings or grand openings. Four VIBE After Fives, four Catchup Over Coffee breakfasts, three Lunch and Learns which included topics of Children in 2024, Social Media and Business and Marketing Update in Layman’s Terms. We always start our year strong with our most significant event which is Rockingfest on the Square. This event has proven to be the largest event in our area and is growing yearly.”

Several awards were presented during the event by Executrive Director Carrie Wood.
