Krave Korner hosts LaFayette Juneteenth

LAFAYETTE — The city of LaFayette, in partnership with Krave Korner Homestyle Kitchen and Catering, proudly celebrated another outstanding year with its Third Annual Juneteenth Parade and Block Party, bringing together residents, families, businesses, churches and visitors for a day filled with celebration, fellowship and community pride.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the significance of Juneteenth while highlighting the values of freedom, unity, culture, love and community. Despite periods of rain throughout the day, spirits remained high as attendees gathered to honor history and celebrate the strength of the LaFayette community.

Leading this year’s parade as Grand Marshal was Darryl Seroyer of Silmon & Seroyer Funeral Home, recognized in honor of the enduring legacy of his father, Samuel Seroyer. The tribute celebrated a family tradition of leadership, community service and an unwavering commitment to preserving the values of faith, family and unity that continue to inspire generations throughout the community.

This year’s Community Honor Award was presented to Fletcher Carr in recognition of his outstanding faith, dedicated service and lasting contributions to the citizens of Chambers County. Carr’s remarkable 57 years of service with the Chambers County School System have impacted countless students, families and educators, leaving a legacy of excellence and commitment that will be remembered for years to come.

The Church with an Impact Award was presented to Overseer Willie Eva Hicks and Chosen Generation Worship Center for outstanding leadership, faithful service and a positive impact on the community. Through unwavering dedication to ministry, outreach and service, Overseer Hicks and the congregation continue to inspire hope, strengthen families and make a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals throughout the region.

Adding excitement to the celebration was a dynamic performance by International Recording Artist Torrance Rudd, whose music energized the crowd and brought people together in joyful celebration.

The block party featured a variety of local vendors, delicious food, family-friendly activities, line dancing steppers, entertainment for children and music that kept the atmosphere lively throughout the day. Families, friends and neighbors enjoyed the opportunity to connect, support local businesses and celebrate a shared history and heritage.

The 3rd Annual Juneteenth Parade and Block Party once again demonstrated the power of community collaboration and the importance of honoring the past while building a stronger future. Through fellowship, recognition of local leaders and a spirit of togetherness, the city of LaFayette and Krave Korner Homestyle Kitchen and Catering created an event that celebrated not only freedom, but also the enduring strength, resilience and unity of the community.

As another successful celebration comes to a close, organizers and attendees alike look forward to continuing this meaningful tradition for many years to come, ensuring that the legacy of Juneteenth remains a source of education, inspiration and celebration for future generations.
