Lady Rebels pick up wins

LAFAYETTE — The Chambers Academy girls’ basketball program dominated at every level this week, with the JV Lady Rebels and varsity Lady Rebels rolling to decisive home victories behind sharp ball movement and stifling defense.
JV Lady Rebels
The JV Lady Rebels hosted two contests. First, they played The Rock Academy. The JV girls moved the ball well to open the game and took a 6-1 lead at the end of the first period of play. Payton Stanford started off the scoring in the second quarter with a three and followed up with a two to give Chambers a 12-3 lead at the half.
Addison Tenpenny scored two baskets to increase the Lady Rebels’ score in the third. Ayden Dukes hit a three to end the quarter with the Lady Rebels taking an 18-5 lead. McKinley Hendricks knocked down a three in the fourth to seal the 26-9 win.
Against Trinity, Peyton Stanford hit a basket to put Chambers on the board first and take a 7-0 lead at the end of the half. Skylar Andrews found Hayden Smith under the goal for a quick basket to start the second quarter. Emma Betts hit a long two, and Addison Tenpenny followed up with two baskets. Stanford ended the half with a buzzer beater three to make the score 20-2.
Skylar Nelson took a rebound back to the goal to open up the second half, and Stanford hit another buzzer beater to make the score 29-2 at the end of the period. Andrews drove in for three quick baskets in the fourth to make the final 35-4.
Lady Rebels
Hosting Tinity, the Lady Rebels dominated defensively in the first quarter, coming out on top 10-3. Samantha Lovelace intercepted a pass, and Abby Tenpenny found it on the other end for a Lady Rebel basket to give Chambers a 24-7 lead at the half.
Madison Stanford pulled a basket and one with the foul shot and followed up with a three pointer to make the score 39-12 going into the final period of play. Emmalee Jackson hit a basket to get the final quarter started, and Trenise Tigner drove to the goal for three baskets to make the final score 50-19.
