Letter to the Editor: Meridian Waste
OPINION —
I write today out of frustration. Not only am I frustrated with the lack of execution by Meridian Waste to effectively execute their contract to pick up trash in rural Chambers Country, I am equally frustrated by the total indifference by the Chambers County Commissioners.
This company almost never meets its obligation on the day of the week they prescribed. Meridian just changed our pickup date from Tuesday to Wednesday, but once again nothing.
Either they are such a poor business they can't execute their own plan, or they simply don't care. My neighbors in the Ridge Grove community have had terrible service. On our community page we see customers describing lousy service, no response and, at times, nothing. One neighbor has asked for a trash can for months. Again, nothing is the result.
I spoke to a commissioner and was told, "Yes, they miss me too. But, they were the only bidder on the contract."
Is this the only answer? Is it not the responsibility of county commissioners to solve problems? They were the only bidder states the problem, but has nothing to do with a solution.
Do they want to be a part of a solution? The results so far says, "no."
Voters have immense power if they can stick together. That cohesion is the problem for sure, but maybe we can all remember the current commissioners answer is, "They were the only bidder."
Let's find commissioners who want to solve problem, not be a part of the problem.
Sincerely an angry constituent, with a very good memory.
