LANETT — A new destination for morning coffee, afternoon energy boosts and sweet treats is making its way to Chambers County. Moos and Brews, a beverage and dessert shop founded in West Georgia, is slated to open its first Alabama storefront during the first week of November.
Located at 1901 S. Broad Ave., across from AutoZone, the shop is transforming a former storefront into a bright, pastel-hued cafe complete with a newly installed drive-thru window.
Owner Krystal Killcreas, a Carrollton, Georgia, native, launched Moos and Brews after spending 14 years working in corporate purchasing at Southwire. What started as a mobile coffee trailer serving weddings and weekend festivals quickly revealed demand for a permanent brick-and-mortar storefront.
“Everybody kept asking me, ‘Did I have a brick and mortar shop? Do you have a store?’” Killcreas said. “I decided in May to pursue opening a storefront. That’s what inspired me to do it full time, just because I enjoyed doing it so much for events and on the weekends.”
The brand expanded in Georgia over the late summer, opening its LaGrange shop on Aug. 10 and a Carrollton location a week later on Aug. 17. Expanding across state lines into Lanett marks a key strategic milestone for Killcreas, helping solidify the company’s federal trademark and business footprint while bringing a family-friendly gathering spot to the local area.
Moos and Brews operates as a versatile, one-stop shop designed to cater to sweet cravings and caffeine runs alike. The menu features handcrafted espresso lattes, dirty sodas, acai bowls, smoothies, boba teas, milkshakes and 24 flavors of ice cream, as well as sundaes and banana splits.
Killcreas highlighted the shop’s acai bowls and loaded energy teas as personal favorites. Packed with 200 milligrams of caffeine and containing zero sugar, the teas use product lines from Revive rather than common brands like Herbalife.
Beyond food and drink, community involvement remains central to the business’s mission. Ahead of opening her Georgia locations, Killcreas distributed nearly 1,000 free children’s ice cream cone vouchers through open house events in Troup and Carroll county schools. The business also provides discounts for nurses, free drinks for uniformed police officers and EMTs and military discounts — a personal point of pride for Killcreas, whose husband is stationed at Fort Benning.
“I just love serving the community and giving back,” she said. “We kind of have everything you could want on a menu to be a one-stop shop.”
Crews have spent recent weeks renovating the Lanett building with plumbing, electrical work and vibrant window displays designed to catch the eye of drivers along South Broad Avenue.
“We’re excited to be there,” Killcreas said. “We’re looking forward to serving and bringing something good for families to be able to grab food, dessert or coffee.”
Operating hours will be finalized based on customer traffic following the opening, though sister locations typically open around 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. and stay open until 8 or 9 p.m. Moos and Brews is currently hiring baristas and store managers to round out its Lanett team ahead of next month’s launch.
