Nelson takes lead in State House District 38 race
CONTRIBUTED BY KRISTIN NELSON CAMPAIGN
CHAMBERS/LEE COUNTY — Recent polling shows Kristin Nelson has a commanding lead in the Republican primary for Alabama’s House District 38, securing 41% of initial voter support and surging to over 60% when voters are pressed to choose from the three candidates. The lifelong Chambers County resident and current GOP party chair has built momentum through extensive grassroots campaigning across the district’s diverse communities.
“I feel it is my duty to give back to the people who have raised me, supported me and fought for our rural communities,” said Nelson. “It’s my turn to serve as a strong voice for all of District 38.”
Nelson’s campaign centers on four key priorities that she said she believes resonates with East Alabama families, according to a press release:
“Creating economic opportunity: Nelson is committed to supporting local businesses and attracting new industries to grow the local economy and increase good-paying jobs. Her focus is on long-term economic growth that lifts up every corner of our state, especially rural and underserved areas.
“Strengthening public safety: Keeping our neighborhoods safe starts with strong partnerships. Nelson will work side-by-side with local law enforcement, first responders and community leaders to reduce crime and strengthen public safety.
“Protecting educational freedom: Nelson, who homeschools her own children, believes that every child deserves a high-quality education that best fits their academic needs. She’ll fight to invest in public schools, support teachers and protect the freedoms of families who choose to take a less traditional approach to education.
“Delivering tax relief: East Alabama families are stretched thin during these tough economic times.
Nelson will advocate for tax relief policies that reduce the burden on our communities, cut wasteful spending and prioritize fiscal responsibility,” the press release stated.
The special election Republican primary is scheduled for Oct. 21, with the general election on Feb. 23, 2026.
