VALLEY — Petsense held its grand opening on Aug. 4 for community members to explore the range of products and services it provides for pets.
“We are Petsense by Tractor Supply,” said Petsense Store Manager Vanessa Stitt. “We have 207 locations. We sell cat products, dog products and products for small animals and reptiles. We have live reptiles and fish. We are glad to be a part of the Valley area. We have just been overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received since opening on June 20.
Stitt said she has enjoyed the support of community members and the city officials since the opening of Petsense.
“We had the ribbon cutting on Thursday, and it was great,” she said. “We had a lot of city officials come out to support [us]. It was a wonderful occasion. The overwhelming pour of community [support] has been coming out to say how they are glad that we are part of the community.”
With the location in Valley, Stitt said that Petsense will provide the Chambers County community with important pet supplies and grooming that would otherwise require driving to a larger city.
“I thought it was a great idea to bring it here to give the community the opportunity to shop locally, to bring that revenue into the city,” she said. “So we wanted to bring something here, so that instead of you having to go to the other surrounding cities, you could come right here to Valley. We will take care of your pet’s needs.”
Petsense Team Member Brooke Arndt said she enjoys getting to see pets throughout her days at work, and she knows customers are able to get supplies they need to take care of their pets.
“I personally have a cat at home, and I just love animals,” she said. “I think if it wasn’t so hard to become a veterinarian, I would still be going down that path for college instead of what I’m going down. It’s so nice being able to work here and just work with the animals, take care of them and know they’re getting proper care and everything like that. And it’s just a nice environment as well.”
Ardnt said even if community members do not need pet products, they should visit Petsense and look at the animals.
“Just come and look at the cats,” she said. “They’re so cute, and the reptiles, they’re all adorable. We have bearded dragons, and they like to be pet. It’s definitely just worth it to check us out.”
Stitt said everyone who works at Petsense has a love for pets and that community members can visit to find the products they need for their pets.
“To manage a pet store, you have to love pets,” she said. “You have to love all types of pets, because, as you manage, you see all types of pets come into your store. One thing about that, we try to cater to all pets, and we do that by having all products, or a variety of all products that you may choose from. My team members and I are all pet lovers. All of us enjoy the pets, we love to see them come in and pets are welcome here.”
