LAFAYETTE — The LaFayette Library and LaFayette Main Street are teaming up to bring community fun and food at the Spot on the Square in Downtown LaFayette.

“The Plants, Popsicles and Pizza activity is a fun program in partnership with the LaFayette Main Street,” said LaFayette Library Branch Manager Rachel Johnson. “We will learn about Dr. George Washington Carver, plant a veggie or flower, cool off with popsicles and enjoy pizza. The event is free for families to attend.”

Johnson said the partnership between LaFayette Main Street and the LaFayette Library for this event continues a mission by both organizations to increase community engagement in the events and opportunities offered in town.

“The LaFayette Library is partnering with LaFayette Main Street to provide a unique and fun learning experience for children this summer,” she said. “We hope this activity will bring out the community for a fun morning outside. We welcome children of all ages and their parents/guardians to enjoy the activities we have planned.”

Through the opportunity to learn history, gardening skills and enjoy a treat, Johnson said she hopes local students will join in on more library activities and regularly engage in fun that includes education and literacy.

“We love watching families enjoy summertime together,” she said. “This event provides a free and fun local activity, and it is also a reminder that learning and reading can be done anywhere.”

Through partnering with the LaFayette Library, Executive Director DeAnna Hand said she is excited to provide an opportunity for locals to enjoy family fun.

“Partnerships like this between LaFayette Main Street and the Chambers County Library help create meaningful experiences for our children and families while bringing life and learning into downtown LaFayette,” she said.

Through bringing families downtown, Hand said she is excited to offer fun activities on the Square for families to enjoy.

“We love working together with Chambers County Library to provide fun, educational and family-friendly events that encourage community involvement and make downtown LaFayette a place for everyone to gather and enjoy,” she said.

The LaFayette Library is located at 198 1st St. SE, LaFayette. For more information, follow Chambers County Library on Facebook or visit www.chamberscountylibrary.org. The Spot on the Square is located at 17 LaFayette St. S. in LaFayette.
