Introduction
The City of LaFayette is seeking qualified professional services for the implementation of a Third Party Administrated D.O.T. and Non- D.O.T. Substance Abuse Testing Program. It is the intention of the City of LaFayette to implement this program immediately. As a result, professional services are anticipated to start immediately upon awarding of the contract. The following services will be required:

6. Employee: D.O.T. & Non-DOT (a) Employee/New Hire: Required Orientation to Workplace Policy, (b) Employee/New Hire: Education Awareness Program (c) Employee/New Hire: Awareness Program to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and (d) Employee/New Hire: Awareness Program to the consequences to State Benefits for Policy Violation and/or Test Violation.

Selection Process
The City of LaFayette is following a competitive proposal procedure to procure services for a Third Party Administrated D.O.T. and Non-D.O.T. Substance Abuse Testing Program. The City of LaFayette is seeking proposals from qualified providers only. Proposals should include the necessary qualifications to perform the required scope of services as well as any and all costs associated with providing the requested services. The proposals will be reviewed by a committee consisting of members of the LaFayette City Council. ORDINANCE NO. 493
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAFAYETTE, ALABAMA, TO EXEMPT CERTAIN “COVERED ITEMS” FROM THE MUNICIPAL SALES AND USE TAX BEGINNING AT 12:01 A.M. ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2027, AND ENDING AT TWELVE MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2027, AS AUTHORIZED BY ACT 2012-256, GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS THE STATE SALES TAX HOLIDAY FOR SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS LEGISLATION. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of LaFayette, Alabama as follows:
SECTION ONE: In conformity with the provisions Act 2012-256 enacted by the Alabama Legislature during the 2012 Regular Session, providing for a State Sales Tax Holiday, the City of LaFayette, Alabama, exempts “covered items” from municipal sales and use tax during the same period, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2027 and ends at 12:00 midnight the following Sunday, February 28, 2027.
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall be subject to all terms, conditions, definitions, time periods, and rules as provided by Act 2012-256, except that the time period shall only be as specified in Section 1 above and not for all years thereafter.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify a copy of this Ordinance under the seal of the City of LaFayette, Alabama, and to forward said certified copy to the Alabama Department of Revenue to be recorded and posted on the Department website.
SECTION FOUR: Once published as provided by law this Ordinance shall become effective February 1, 2027.
